Father’s Day Car show photos…

I went out to one of the Father’s Day Car Show’s to snap a few pictures during the kids nap time…sense a theme here yet?…Nap time = Photo time (if I don’t have other things to do and it is nice out). The pickings were a little light at the show as there was multiple car shows on today, but here are a few pictures. Happy Father’s Day!

Layer Masks…

January 20, 2013 Leave a comment

I have not had much time to get out and about to take any new photographs as of late, so instead I have been playing around in my ancient copy of Photoshop and trying my hand at layer masks. Here are some of the results…let me know what you think…suggestions?

Home Alone…Day Four…a day late…

Okay a day late, but I was very tired yesterday for some reason might have been all the sun, I also think all the sleeping in is throwing off my internal clock.

So after getting up I headed to the balcony to see if the oil had done its job and freed the nut enough for me to get the tire off. Success! Tire removed soon after I had the tube removed. I pumped it up and filled the sink to see if I could find the issue and was rewarded with bubbles soon after submerging it. So now came the next task, finding a replacement tube for a 12″ kids tire; amazingly enough I was able to find one at my first stop so I bought two to have one as back-up since we have the two bikes. I picked up a few other things at the store and came back to the house where I put everything back together.

Yup that was the last thing on the list, so I got to scratch it off. Woot!

After that I grabbed my camera and took off on a bit of a road trip to take some photos out of town at a small roadside diner / ice cream shop that also rebuilds classic cars in the back shop. I tried to see if the owner would sell me the Art Deco hood ornament from the ’37 Pontiac, he said sure, as long as I bought the car too…uhmmm no.

After that I swung back towards home, on the hunt for a Kingfisher that I have seen at a lake along the way. I did find him/her but was unable to get a clean photo so the hunt continues…I enjoy the “hunt” and then “shooting” the animal, my trophy is the photo.  After spotting the Cedar Waxwing for the first time the other day I’m starting to see them everywhere now…LOL.  Unable to get a photo of the Kingfisher I did run into an unexpected find of 4-5 Western Painted Turtles sunning themselves on a log.

Also tried to get some photos of the barn swallows that were buzzing around the area, but I needed to try some different camera settings as all I got was bird shaped blurs.

Other than a touch of sunburn and an already painful foot not liking the walking it was not a bad day.

Home Alone…Day Three…

Day three, and it being the weekend I actually slept in, till 8am…

After which I got up and did a few chores around the house and made some breakfast. I had a pancake, it was almost the size a dinner plate, but I only had ONE pancake (wonder if I could get away with that on a diet show…lol). After that I tried in vain to remove the rear tire off my daughters bike so that I could change a flat tire. Only after getting all the training wheels off and chain guard do I find that one of the nuts has been mangled to a point where I can’t get a proper grip on it with a wrench. I tried in vain for longer than I should have and finally stepped away after soaking it with WD40. Will try again tomorrow…

After that I scratched a few more items off the honey do list that my wife had left for me. So far it is going to be the kids bike that won’t be getting removed at this rate.

Took the time to go down to a local auto show at one of the kids favorite parks. Once there I took a lot of photos, played with some more of my new camera’s settings and took a few photos that I would consider Artsy…LOL.

Sure were some nice rides there, had a few favorites that I kept going back to. Surrounded by cars with all that shiny chrome and the smell of tires in the hot sun I had a small surge of testosterone. Had an urge to do a little Tim Allen grunt…just needed a beer and a steak after all that…where can I build my man cave?

Had a nice but short visit with some family members who were passing through town on their family vacation. They are taking the time to check out lots of the sights along the way, so no mad rush involved from point A to B, best way to do it if you can.

This evening I did some more tourist in my backyard sort of thing by heading over to a local park with a large marsh/pond in the back of it. Got a photo of another new bird (to me at least) called a Cedar Waxwing.

After which I did some quick shopping to get some snack items into the house. Thinking it might be time for a movie, will see how I feel after this.

Home Alone…Day One…

Wow, been ages since I did a post here. Seems that after I got my new job my posting to the blog has come to a complete stop, shows that I work too much…

So back in March soon after starting my new job I was required to book my holidays. So after much planning and discussion with family I booked July 25th to 31 off for a family vacation to see my sister up at her cabin on the lake. Was assured by my boss that it would not be an issue, and if there was a problem with the our floater rep he would do my route himself. So about 2 weeks ago I get an email from the regional office, holiday denied. I wrote back, but it was all set, and my boss would cover. Answer back, Denied, and your boss has a big visit that he has to come to regional office that week to help with so he can’t cover your territory (funny thing is the big visit he was to help with is now occurring next month…). So what to do, not like I could be conveniently sick the same week that I was to go on the trip. As well the kids have been talking about the trip for months so how could we let them down? So in the end the final decision would be that I would be stuck at home working while my wife and kids went on the trip. I was a tad worried about my wife’s sanity being stuck in the car for hours with bored kids, but she broke up the trip with little sightseeing stops and has made it to the hotel a-okay. Tomorrow they make the final leg of the trip before heading to the lake.

So here I am, home alone. No wife, no kids time to sit back and relax, maybe have a beer (or not since I am dealing with an extremely painful run of gout in not one but both of my feet). Nothing like working a job that requires lots of walking with two bum feet. Add in the fact that since I am working and driving the “good” medications have to stay at home.

So what does one do when he is free of kids and his wife? Well I’ll tell ya…he cleans the fraking house…dusted, vacuumed and cleaned the kitchen, bathroom will have to wait till tomorrow I think.

Woo-hoo! Party on Dude!

Okay, so maybe I turned on some of my music while I worked, but still I’m so exciting…NOT! Oh, I almost forgot, I did my laundry too…

The one diversion I have afforded myself tonight was watching Mortal Kombat: Legacy on YouTube, which I came upon by chance. It Freaking Rocks!, and I see that there are more episodes on the way. I want them now, now, now… Not for young viewers I might add…

Well I think I better go take some of the “good” drugs and get to bed, early morning run to my out of town calls with another early start (up at 4am…why did I take this job again?).

So enough for now…as some other sparkly has my attention…till next time…OH SO SHINY…

P.S. – wonder if I should do a photo like the movie poster….ahhhhhhh!
